Small editorial team discussing economic data at a table
Our story

Started as internal notes, opened up to everyone

tomgidel began as a set of internal notes kept by a small group of economics graduates and analysts based in Levice, Slovakia, who kept getting asked to explain the same handful of economic concepts to friends and colleagues after reading the news. Over time those notes turned into structured explainers, and we decided the material was more useful published openly than kept private.

Today, Economics Decoded is maintained as a standalone, informational publication. We are not an investment firm, trading platform or research house, and we do not sell services, courses or memberships through this website.

What guides us

The principles behind every explainer

Accuracy over speed

We would rather publish an explainer a week later than publish one that hasn't been checked against reliable sources.

No sales agenda

We do not accept payment to feature a trading platform or investment product favourably, and this site does not sell any product or service.

Written for the reader

Every explainer is written so a curious newcomer and an economics graduate can both take something useful from it.

What we are not

A short, honest disclaimer

To keep expectations clear: tomgidel does not provide paid consulting, coaching, legal advice, investment advice or financial advice, and we are not a licensed financial advisor. Content on this site is general and informational, and should not be treated as a substitute for professional advice specific to your situation. We do not process payments, sell subscriptions, or offer any commercial service through this website.
